Two in a day!!!, Finally!!!the plan has worked out, One of the best evenings :-)

Does the title seems to be long? yeah! I feel the same too. But I have to tell u guys abt three incongruent things that happened back to back. I thought, I would write them separately, but according to my blogging schedule I am supposed to give a considerable time gap between two posts n if I do so, I might forget to tell u guys abt the remaining two. Ok!

Number 1: First time in my life, might be the last time too!, I watched two movies in the theatre on the same day (12:30 AM n 7:40PM). I used to call it insane/joblessness when ppl does it. Finally I need to call myself too. But, one right thing that I did was choosing 2 English movies. Thank god! I didn't choose Bollywood/Kollywood movies (I am talking in terms of time duration. I love them too!!, the good ones though) else I would have spent 6 hrs in front of the big screen. I learnt my lesson: I felt so irritated that I was felling so tired without doing anything. I am not gonna watch 2 movies on the same day in the theatreeeeeeeeee!

Number 2: Yeah! the plan to go out with the gang finally worked out. I am kind off person (that's wat I think!), when something is planned, would like to stick to it, unless and until some major issue has occurred. Yes, I still call it a gang though only 4 had turned up. Pulau ubin - The place meant primarily for cycling was scheduled. It was awesome! riding the cycle on the terrain covered on both sides with dense trees n the buzzing sound :-) It was Bliss riding down the slope; it felt as if the plane was abt to take off ( ps: if u wanna feel the Bliss, u first need to ride up the hill :-) ). Photos, if I still remember, will post next time.

Number 3: After 3 hrs of cycling came back home. I though will have a nice sleep before I leave for dinner. But, I managed only a small nap :( Dinner @ .. how do I describe this person whom I am going to meet for the first time n who has called me for dinner... mmm. Ok, we shall call it a veryyyyyyy veryyyy distant relative ( The Logic : Every one in this world are related to each other in some way or the other :-) ) I was initially skeptical abt the dinner. I thought it would be the usual dinner along with few small talks: Silently thinking for 15 mins before asking something to break the silence. But it all vanished within few mins after I met them. There was absolutely no small talks, no gossips, no nonsense. Everyone gathered were talking as if each one of us knew each other for a very long time. Topics from culture to Environmental issues were spoken. " we are all observers n not judges" : I loved this one, which came up when talking different cultures. I totally totally loved it! Dinner was simple and delicious. I ate so much, but still I didn't feel the heaviness in my tummy (Ok, I know wat u guys r thinking :P) You guys know my capacity :p, but still, it was ONLY because of the awesome food :- Pls agree!! I want to compliment the food) The last one was never expected: a game of cards at 9:30 PM, felt I was back home. Sorry, Correction back in my native, when ppl gather for marriages. After a really long time, 8 of us played cards together. Two words to describe it - it was "Super Fun". One of the best evenings!!!!

Mission Started!

Jus came back from a party and the first thing I am doing is posting this blog. Wat a place to celebrate the party - BBQ pit jus by the side of a huge swimming pool and the soothing sound of the fountains on both sides!. I have been to 4-5 condos in Singapore, but I felt this one was The Best among them. Wat a place to live! There was loads of food, drinks, ppl including this American couple I met. Speaking to them rekindled few of my aspirations in my life -Travelling and Eating different cuisines ! They were talking to us abt the places they have visited so far n in fact it's been 7 years since they had been to their home land. At least not to that extend, but I would surely like to travel to different places. Along with the travel story came the authentic cuisines that they have been enjoying in those places. I was awestruck - During the conversation one of my colleague asked them whether they had tried out a particular restaurant. The couple opened up their bag n took out a PDA and noted down the restaurant n said that will be the next place to visit. Later heard that the PDA was the most treasured one - It had all the restaurants in different parts of world where u get sumptuous, authentic food. I thought abt my word doc that I used for noting down the various restaurants and cuisine that I have tried - The list is so small! :(

Now I take a vow that I will travel more n make sure the list increases at a steady rate!

Surprise!!!!

Indian sweets n savouries! Do I need a better motivation to wake up early in the morning ?! nope :-) A bag full of Shree Mithai sweets, which was increased to another bag within few mins. I was gleefully taking all of them, later was told one bag was for me n another one has to be delivered to somebody else. oh ok! never mind one full bag is for me :-)

Now I need to deliver the sweets (Laks courier service :p) I had to travel to this part of the city where I have never been to, since I came here 2 years ago. With the directions from the train station, headed towards Kovan. From the train station, I was instructed to take a bus.

This time I am gonna be careful. Do not want to repeat it again ("this is the first time u have come to this place, so better ask the bus driver, whether the bus goes to the place where u intend to go")

Bus 513 stops.
me: does the bus stop at ......?
driver: no u have to take 512 or 587
me: Thank u

Bus 512 stops.
me: does the bus stop at ... ?
driver: no
me: * blank*
driver: u have to take 513 or 515
me : (513 ?:-o) ok thanks

* before I cud get in, the bus driver was waving his hand towards me. was wondering wat was he trying to say*
me: does the bus stop at ....?
driver: this bus is heading towards the terminus.
me: oh ok.
driver: Never mind, u get in
me: *Blank*
driver: u jus sit down , u don't have to pay.
me : wat ?!!!!!!!!! (This is not possible in this part of the world!!!!!!!! a FREE ride) completely SURPRISED.
The bus reached the terminus.
driver: jus wait in the bus for 5 mins. I will start again.
me: ok sure :)

For the next 5 mins, we were jus chatting.

me: now I tapped :-)
driver: he explained to me where I need to get down n where I need to catch the bus to return back.
me: (real nice guy!)

Alighted from the bus n thanked him with a big smile :)

As usual switched off the alarm n slept in the morning following which had to fast track the morning chores.
Effect of fast track - forgot my mobile at home which I realized jus when I got into the bus.shit!!!! my mobile! I am gonna miss all the calls (though i knew nobody is gonna call :-D ) :P

Post lunch session, rather close to eve tea session: A srange noise at office, but a familiar one at home, especially in the nights - norrrrrr noooorr brrrrr noorrr brrrrr. This sound was comin from the corner of my office that too when the entire office was silent, which is always the case. All the heads turned towards the corner, wondering who the tired guy (The guy deserves that sleep, who's one of the few to come early to work) was. I cudn't control my laughter, then told myself beware when u sleep next time :-D, do it inconspicuously :p

Finished work, chked online when the bus is gonna come to my stop (Time management! rather emotion control!, else i wud be uselessly chiding the poor bus driver n the bus service ). I was going to meet my friend to help him shift his stuffs to his new house (Laks movers n packers :P). I had to take a bus-train-bus combo to reach his place. The first two went on without any major hiccups. The last one was the worst - saw the bus from the train station n ran towards the bus stop, the driver was patient enough to hold on for a while. Thanked him with a big smile :) With a smug on my face thought I am gonna reach before schedule, that's when I realized that this is not a familiar sight! I went to the driver to ask him where do I get down.
The driver - u shd have told me when u had got in that u didn't know the place. U have taken the bus in the opposite direction!!!!!!!
me - oh!!!Thanks! (wat?! now u don't have a mobile,no change to call up the poor friend who Will be waiting :( )

Post bus confusion: walked to the other side of the road, waiting for the bus. All the services that stopped there had visited the stop twice unlike the service I wanted. HALF AN HR was standing patiently. Then came the chiding- this time the list included my stupid sense for directions :-D. After the long wait n chiding, I saw the bus I needed, not one but two, as if they r the newly met couples who cannot live without each other, holding hands together, scared someone else will grab n run away! sigh!

Finally reached my Friends place n told him a gist of wat happ cos of my hunger level which crossed its threshold. went to the dinning table devoured the bread n got some energy back to walk(run) to the nearest food joint. less talk more food! with hunger controlled everything returned to normal :-) n

I am Tagged!

Atlast, I got wat "Tagged" means. I was getting loads of msgs sayin "u r tagged" n didnt understand y. All kudos to Danny who deciphered it for me n tagged me :).

n for ppl like me who are ignorant abt "tagging". All u have to do when somebody tags u is to write 8 facts and a lie .

This is gonna take some time for me.

1. When I was born , I fitted the cradle jus rt n got a compliment from the nurse that I wud grow very tall.

2. Until my second grade I always used to get confused between b and d. Infact when I was asked to write dog, I wrote bog :-D

3. My first crush wud date back to grade 4 n from then on it increased exponentially :)

4. If somebody needs to flatter me all it takes is jus to feed me with sumptuous food. I am a tot Foodie :-D

5. The most imp things in life are my family n my friends.

6. When I was a kid I aspired to be a doctor, cardiac surgeon to be specific. I had been to a pt where I had my name card typed using my gran pa's typewritter.

7. I was quite famous for my English skills untill my 12th grade, rather college 1st year (for the wrong reasons). All i do when i think abt it is LOL.

8. The most scintillating moment for me was when i played the inter college basket ball finals in front of my entire college crowd. I still cherish that :)

Not bad, I am quiet fast :-0 , 30 mins of brainstorming got me till here. Jus one more :-D

9. Until few months back i thought i was suffering from acrophobia n later realized that it wasnt fear of heights rather fear of falling(climacophobia). Sometimes, even When i walk on a raised platform, I wud fear I am gonna fall:)

A trip to Goa!

Its been 2 years of pondering about a trip to Goa with my cronies.It has always been in the planning stage due to lil time I get to stay in India. The threshold of waiting crossed its limit today while chatting with my friend. He knows how eager I was abt the trip to goa when I had been to India the last time. Everyone tried their best to make it but finally they didn't want to disappoint me n arranged for a trip to Pondy. My dear ones had to change their schedule, go out of their way, travel from diff parts of South India. Finally the gang met in Pondy. One of my friend went to the pt of taking a lift from Madurai to chennai @midnight!!!. It was indeed a great gesture! Ok guys next time I will plan my trip ahead n will let u know in advance so that we can all make it to Goa. Bike riding in the night with head lights off!, partying in the beach! liquid dieting n all night chatting n sleeping on the beach. Jus cant wait!!

Past few evenings thats wat I have been doing. Some how wanted to play Happy bday with my guitar. Thought of a std question from someone who knows that i am playing Guitar( correction: going for classes). I thought I will impress them by playing this song. I ended up singing the song along with my guitar skills(if u call them skills:P). The song is copyrighted and higly encrypted/ciphered..:P, so u cannot download from the internet/crack it n listen to it. But I have made it available to my dear friends. So all u need to do is drop in an email/drop in a request comment n I will send u the file personally with the modification in the line " happy birthday dear ......".

I can understand how eager u guys r to listen to the song, u r jus an email away :)

Nostalgic!!!

Tring tring. +91...... :-D call from India (wat a feeling!) In a subdued tone, I said Hello! (had to curb my excitement, as I was @ work) Can I speak to Lakshman (trying to hide the identity by being formal ???) that is impossible Shyam. You n being formal are a way apart! The updates from both of us started to roll down when the Weekend story came up. Bike ride,Juice @ FruitShop, movie (Namesake) with the gang. Then came the review of Namesake in the typical Shyam's flair. Missing it!!!!! Though he didnt continue for long cos he had to mention abt this gal, whom he says is talking to him for hrs over the phone (International call- has to be noted). When asked for further details, there comes the reply stop ur imagination!, She is my collegue n we talk over office matters (I guess the gang does not believe) Shyam u have still not convinced the gang!

Hey Headlines : we are gonna party for three months.

three months?? yeah! Subu's parents are going overseas. So now we have the house, the car, the bike n wat more we are also in Chennai. (Hope u guys dont bring the ceiling down) This is getting me a lil nostalgic Shyam. once a banal activity (stay over) has now become something unusual.there comes the reply hey!! if u r planning to come to India, come during these three months. wish I cud.

Indonesia trip

1.Not been on a ferry.
2. Feeling bored at staying in the same place n doing the same work.
3. Have only a day to hang out .
4. r u very bad at planning trips
5. Main question: do u live in singapore ???
If u have been nodding for the above questions, then the answer wud be Batam, Indonesia.

jus a 45 mins drive on a ferry from singapore. on arrival visa (as i said there isnt much planning rqd). though i went for this trip a month ago n wanted to tell u guys abt this for a long time, i finally got some time to write abt this. cos i jus came back from a heavy lunch n i do not want to dose off now (Time management! :p )
After anxiously waiting in the lobby to get into the ferry, the gates finally opened! got into the lower deck oooo i could feel the wobbling (the ferry is yet to start)

the ferry started n speeded up so did my excitement!!!. slowly started to explore the ferry, tats when i found this place on the top of the ferry which was roofless ( u gotto chk it out). Breeze blowing u away, water splashing on ur face though u r on the top n the sight of the ferry smearing the sea is a must watch!!!! ( Sorry I have no pics of this, cos i jus had my mobile n i didnt want to do a stunt n drop it down into the sea..reason: too much obsession with my W810i)

45 mins of ferry excitment was over n landed in Battam. Breakfast time!!!!!!!

n that was the hotel were we had breakfast. (It always feels amazing to have Indian food outside India) for veg ppl this is the place u can try rather than goin to a diff restaurant n trying to explain to them u want only vegg food) If u r non veg ... dont miss to try out the crab n fish fry!!!!!

Reminder: u have come here for sight seeing !!!!! enough of hogging. Ok lets go

Ok lets go on for few shopping tips (though i am the wrong guy for shopping). the rates r cheaper compared to the rates in Sing. But only thing is that the native currency (rupiah) .the cost of a T shirt wud be around 70,000 - few lakhs. first timers wud go crazyyy cos we r not used to handling so huge amts. a coffee costs 26,000 ( i leave the rest to ur imagination)

So it takes a long time to do currency conversion (infact very annoying) Tip : Carry a calculator !!!! it might sound silly but trust me u can save a lot of time, if u wanna buy loads of stuffs or u need to be very good in doing arithmetics. So choice is urs!!!!!

Shoppers: Fans of Polo shirts... there are few Polo outlets n its quite cheap.

I got to mention this .... this place is famous for night clubs n n massage centres ... so if u have time n with the right company n interested then u guys have loads of options!!!.

The Bond!!!!

yeah there is a bond! i meant Shane bond in NZ team. Wat a bowler! n wat a nightmare to batsmans, not only to the opponents but also to his own team mates. Headlines: "Bond breaks wrsit n toe". due to his bowling in nets two of his teammates position in the team has become a big question mark, out of which Lou vincent (wrist fracture) is a sure exit. Hope Mcmillan recovers from the injury n plays the yorker properly, in particular during the nets n when bond is in action.

back to school days!

early morning (tats 7:30 am for me) lying on the bed thinking whether to wake up n go to school r not. all of a sudden "Banggggg" ooucchhhh who was that in the morning... oh mom "get up its time for school" mom i guess u were a great football player. rush up rush up ,grab wat ever is on the table n leave its getting late. ok its the time.all set to launch the bike (my cycle Cannon Barrel :-D.. if u guys still remember) on the cycle streching out the hand opening the gate n zzooooommmmmmmm. hey! stop stop dont u know u r not supposed to ride the cycle inside the school campus get down n push the cycle .. oh watch man its getting late for me.. no way push the cycle n park it.. ok i dont want to argue any more. Those days were awesome. never had to think abt any other transport, need not have to worry abt filling up the fuel tank in the bike, asking dad for money.. n finally after so many years got a chance to ride a cycle again in ECP (east coast park) it was awesome .it wasnt something new but it felt great. flat roads lovely breeze, felt as if i have become a school kid again. Now planning to buy a cycle. hopefully in a weeks time i do that.

At last after constant bulling, irritating, flattering..... got the snaps emailed from my friend, which was copied on to a CD n was supposed to be picked up by me . hence the delay!

Nike Ad

Did u guys chk out the new Nike ad, which is said to be their first ad based on cricket (if not chk it out in youtube). It claims that they are trying to capture the spirit of the Indian street cricket with authenticity. But I was jus wondering while watching the video with guys playing cricket on the streets with Nike gears. When did this start. I guess too much of hype being created.

Life is to run … run faster

Wake up in the morning run to the restroom to reserve a seat before ur roommate
Run to the room, drying area in search of a dress to wear ( I meant ur own dress)
Run to the kitchen to get ur cornflakes n milk
Run to catch the bus that will be leaving at the sight of u
Run to the office sweating as if ur coming out straight from the gym

Keep running …………………..



p.s: But do take a break. Go out for a vacation n jus relax.

nice way to end the weekend :)

It was a weekend spent (most of the time) happily lazing around in the house. Jus eating sleeping chatting n watching moviess until sunday evening when I called up my friend to pass on a msg to him. thats when I was asked if I was free n wud I be able to join for a game of bowling. I readily jumped into it. I was so excited ( this is the first time i was gonna bowl) It was jus a 5 min walk .. reached the place n was thinking how am I gonna play... the kids there were jus playing with style. First thing I told my friends was this is the first time n i guess most likely the ball is gonna go to the next line. got the training from my friends on how to hold the ball n bowl n as I expected the first 4 throws jus mangaged to hit none GUTTER (but I enjoyed it n there was a hot gal dancing on the screen every time it was a Gutter :-D ) then slowly got the hold of it n next 6 games managed to slowly hit the targets ..... End of 10 games my score was 76 ( 1 strike n twice cleared all the targets in two tries). was feeling tat i had achieved something :p

It was jus a nice way to end the lazy weekend. now i am able to feel a small sprain in my hand :)

Thought it was a prank but ended out to be a little serious

A couple of days off the hectic schedule n a meet up with friends were the need of the hour. After enough discussion on the place for the meet up, we decided to go ahead to Pondicherry. Though the initial destination was Goa! All started really well even though each one of us were at a different place. reached the place around 12 in the afternoon. had a brunch n some drinks n headed to a hut house near the beach where we stayed. Had few more drinks n thought will have a bash in the beach. All of us jumped into the sea n slowly started to go further away from the shore. As usual a friend of mine who is famous for his acting skills/pranks started to shout for help…. Initially I thought it was jus another prank n didn’t take it seriously until his sound persisted for a while. Then I moved close to him while other two of my friends reached there before me n all of us suddenly started to feel that the wave was pulling us further inside even though we resisted n it was not a prank. The waves became bigger n bigger with the water level reaching the forehead. In the mean while my other friend was missing (actually he was further away from us due to his swimming skills). then we 4 started to call for him but he cudnt hear a word. Hearts pumping ..we all thought for those few mins it was all over ( none of the 4 knew swimming!) waves kept pulling inside. Then finally we decided to get close to each other n held our hands tight n said “lets try our best. Lets move forward” Then slowly we came to the shore. Oh my god! Wat an experience uuuufffffffffff.

Jus can’t wait

I am going to India for a 2 weeks break!! But I need to spend another 4 days in Singapore before I catch my flight this Thursday at 7:30 pm. Meeting my family, friends, home food… the list goes on n I just can’t wait! rt now i am thinking wat shd i get for ppl in India. Yet to do any major shopping cos of the fact tat I don’t like the crowded shopping centers here. Guys here will meet u once I am back (don’t worry will bring loads of stuffs to eat) n for guys in India keep ur schedule free. waiting to meet u all.

Two Lifts in 2 weeks :-D

The last Saturday of 2006 was really a busy day. I woke up at 7 in the morning n rushed to one of my relative’s place, a 1.5 hr bus drive from my place. Met my relatives n as I had promised them to take them to my univ got a cab n brought them to the univ. I was walking all thro the univ along with them so that they cud get to see most of the places. It was really hot n I had no energy at the end of tour. At abt 12:30 started from the univ and went n dropped them back as they were new to the place only then I realized that I was supposed to go to my friend’s place near my univ for lunch. I was like I am gonna reach only for dinner. Then immediately got the train n came back. This was the first time I was going to my friends place. Once I got down from the station I started to walk thinking that I wud be able to manage my way. Walking for sometime n realized that it was already too late n thought it wud be a better option to ask somebody on the way for the rt direction. There was nobody on the road except a guy sitting in the car parked on the side of the road. I approached him n asked him the way n he said he has no idea. I was like, ok this is not my day n started to walk n suddenly heard a voice calling Hello Hello. I turned back n it was the guy whom I asked the way. He was like I have the map n I am waiting to pick up my kids n u seem to be in an emergency ( I guess he misunderstood the speed in which I walk) So I will drop u there. I was like I am not in any emergency but cud u tell me the direction. Then eventually cudnt resist the offer n took a lift to my friends place.:) Thanked him n wished him a Happy New year! The second one happ last Thursday. The work was done for the day n I was heading towards the bus stop to get back home when I met this person whom I have never spoken to before except few smiles. I used to see him quiet often cos he works in the same building as mine but never had a chance to speak to him. As usual when I saw him I gave a smile n sat in the bus stop waiting for the bus. I was waiting for a while n suddenly he waved his hand n told me that he is going in a cab to the near by shopping center n offered me that he would drop me on the way. Ok (I jus cudnt think of any other answer). Got into the cab n finally introduced myself! We were speaking abt research interests to his last trip to India which was abt 3 years ago. Reached the destination n thanked him for the lift.

Looking Back 2006

It was a year that I need to keep in my bank locker. Its been a complete turn around for me. rt from the word go. There were loads of things happened that I had never ever expected. It has made me change my conception abt everything in life. Oh my god!. It was an amazing learning curve. There were lots of things to be learnt, abt work, ppl, abt myself! First beach party, completed my coursework, first interview call, followed by more applications for job n few more interview calls then finally landed with my first job, first sal, met loads of ppl got close to few of them, my first musical instrument, first trip to Malaysia n loads of mistake I had made from which I have learnt more abt myself :)

Cha Cha Cha

Wondering what does the title mean. This is the Mexican restaurant I went last Friday. For quiet sometime now, I had been thinking abt trying out a different cuisine n finally had some thing to cheer abt on friday. I heard few great news from my friends. Thought it needs to go for a toast n decided to go out for dinner. There were some pondering n long conversations with my friends on when to go. At last Friday was decided as the day to celebrate. Reached the restaurant at abt 8 n looked into the menu card. Trust me I did not understand a single bit in it. Started off with corn chips n salsa. The next starter that we ordered was jalapeno relledeo ( not sure abt the name.but sth similar to this). It was amazing. The cheese was melting inside. next moved on to the main course but this time I don’t remember the name of it not even something close to it. It had potato, spinach , cheese n some sauce. Then followed it with a long walk jus to compensate the effect of too much of cheese ;).

Next in queue is the Mediterranean cuisine.
